Question
My phone appears on the 'supported device' list but I can't download the application successfully – what do I do?

Answer
Part of the validation process used by BT One Voice mobile access to ascertain whether a mobile device is compatible with service is the remote interrogation of the UAKey of the user’s device. Most factory-delivered settings are already built into the validation database used by BT One Voice mobile access and therefore for the majority of users, there should be no problem in either using the ‘over-the-air’ Device Checker or when downloading the applet to the user’s device.

However, some mobile service providers who also provide devices choose to overwrite the factory standard UAKey with their own values for their own internal inventory purposes.  In this case, we are only aware of this new UAKey value the first time it is presented to the BT One Voice mobile access validation server: which will result in a mismatch and a subsequent failure to download the correct applet.

In cases where this happens, the user (or their representative) is advised to contact the Tech Support Team at omasupport@bt.com with details of the time at which they requested either the over the air device check or the applet download. The support team will then identify the unknown UAKey from the call logs and ensure that it is loaded into the validation database. The user will then be advised to re-try the activity.

Question
Making calls using BT One Voice mobile access: One Touch Dial

Answer
Once installed One Touch Dial is located in the application menu of your mobile device . The application has to be started to use the service. One Touch Dial offers the following menu:

  • Dial
  • Contacts
  • About

Dial is used to enter the telephone number to be called using international number format: + country code followed by the number to be dialled.

Contacts is used to select the number to be dialled from the contacts list on your mobile device.

About displays the version information of the application and additional technical information.

An international call that is not started using the application as described above will automatically be handled by your mobile operator. Remember that the cost savings as offered by the BT One Voice mobile access service will not apply to calls made without using the application.

Question
Making calls using BT One Voice mobile access: Automatic Dial

Answer
Once installed BT One Voice mobile access is automatically used every time an international telephone call is made from your home country. The 'home country' is the country where your SIM card is registered. BT One Voice mobile access will currently not be activated for international calls which are made when you are not in your home country, often referred to as 'roaming'. International roaming calls will be delivered using the roaming capabilities of your mobile operator.

There are no changes to the way you dial an international call. As before, any international number can be dialled manually or via the Contact Book on your mobile device.

If you desire there is an option to bypass the BT One Voice mobile access application for any individual call. In order to trigger this bypass, you need to do one of the following:

Either: Insert a # in front of the number to be dialled (e.g. dial #+31612345678)

Or: Click on the handset's call exit or hang up key once during the call setup.

In both cases the call will then be placed via your mobile operator and will not use the BT One Voice mobile access service. Those calls are going via your current mobile operator and those calls will not be charged by BT.
